IOC World List
The World Bird Names project has been undertaken on behalf of the International Ornithological Congress (IOC). Initially presented as a book by Frank Gill & Minturn Wright (2006), the IOC World List is now a regularly updated online project hosted at www.worldbirdnames.org.
BUBO Listing has now integrated the IOC World List with our database of other checklists, including the Clements World List, in such a way that BUBO Listers can reliably transfer a list based on one checklist to the other. For example, if you wish to create an IOC world list by copying your existing Clements world list across, any splits and lumps that you need to consider will be presented (and emailed) to you. To aid in the task of deciding which splits/lumps are appropriate to your own sightings, we have included the IOC information on the breeding range of each species. The abbreviations for range information included in the notes column below are explained on the World Bird Names website.
The version of the IOC list currently used within BUBO Listing is v2.10 (updated October 2011).
