The list of Icelandic Birds used by BUBO Listing is derived from the Iceland Birding website. The site's list is updated each year after publication of the annual rarities report. The list currently on BUBO Listing contains updates dated 21 March 2008, including the following new species for the Iceland list: Red-breasted Goose Branta ruficollis, Little Grebe Tachybaptus ruficollis, Great Blue Heron Ardea herodias, Semipalmated Plover Charadrius semipalmatus, Olive-backed Pipit Anthus hodgsoni, Varied Thrush Zoothera naevia and Paddyfield Warbler Acrocephalus agricola.
Note that for the purposes of BUBO Listing, species recorded on fewer than 20 occasions are classed as "rare" and the lister is asked to supply a date and location for the sighting.
Although English and latin names are shown as standard within BUBO Listing, the Icelandic names of each species are also included and can be viewed upon data entry by hovering the mouse over the English name. Moreover, the Icelandic names are also listed below:
